Gala dinner at MIT toasts and roasts summer & winter winners
BOSTON- New Englanders are a hardy lot, used to fast-changing, often treacherous winter weather, but the Yankee spirit doesn’t get slowed down by white stuff or a hard freeze. Every February, New England’s expert automotive journalists come together to evaluate the vehicles best able to cope with the mix of terrain and mercurial conditions our region is known for.
The vehicles have been driven, notes taken, and votes cast. After all was said and done, the Jeep Grand Cherokee earned the top spot in the 2011 NEMPA Winter Driving Awards
The 2010 Ford Flex equipped with Ford’s innovative 355-horsepower turbocharged EcoBoost engine has taken home the prestigious title, Official Winter Vehicle of New England. In addition to the Flex, twelve other models were also awarded for their all-season and winter performance traits by the New England Motor Press Association.

Feb. 27, Boston, MA- Early this past February, members of the New England Motor Press association gathered for the annual Winter Vehicle Voting Day. This was the busiest Winter Vehicle judging day in recent history, with the parking lot filled with all-wheel-drive vehicles ranging from entry-level economy cars to full-boat luxury SUVS. After a day of driving and deliberation, judges cast their votes and annotated their picks in each category.
This year’s 2008 Ragtop Ramble Award winners were announced during the New England International Auto Show Press Days luncheon. Steve Tyler from Dirrico Motorscyles (and Aerosmith fame) did the honors alongside NEMPA President Ezra Dyer.
