April 2015 President’s Letter

AGV Cover

It’s Earth Day as I write this and we’re less than a month away from our annual NEMPA/MIT Technology Conference on Thursday, May 21. As you know, the focus of the panel discussion will be on green vehicle technologies and how the industry is facing lofty goals set out not only by the federal government, but by the New England states.

This is an opportune moment to have some of the nation’s best experts in Cambridge to discuss green vehicle technology. By 2025, fleet fuel economy has to reach 54.5 miles per gallon. Next year, cars with a footprint of 41 square feet or smaller will be required to meet a CAFE standard of 41 miles per gallon.

Four New England states also signed on to California’s ZEV Mandate, which requires that 15 percent of all new car sales by 2025 would be Zero Emissions Vehicles.

Where are the manufacturers on this path? What are the challenges? What are the states doing to help?

These are the questions among others that we’ll be answering on May 21.

This isn’t an event you’re going to want to miss, and it’s an event that you’ll want to share with your colleagues and contacts in the industry. Information and tickets are available at: http://conference.nempa.org/

We’ll see you there!
