September 2010 President’s Letter

Dear Friends,

Last week Mike Colleran, President and COO of Saab Cars North America, addressed our New England Motor Press Association monthly dinner meeting at the Boston Globe headquarters. Our region has been Saab territory since Day One, so Colleran was especially pleased to be able to reach the NE auto media directly. You may read a brief report on his talk here: https://nempa.org/events/2010/saab-usa-president-mike-colleran-speaks-to-nempa/

Since Spyker’s Victor Muller rescued the iconic brand, Colleran and his staff have been working overtime to capitalize on the loyalty of Saab owners. (The very first 9-5 sedan was sold in Boston, by Charles River Saab, at 6:01 AM of the day the new model became available.) We expect a 9-5 in the NEMPA fleet shortly and look forward to telling our readers, listeners and viewers about it.

Next, a belated but sincere thank-you to all who participated in our annual Ragtop Ramble & Crustacean Crawl. As you may know, the weather was perfect and the Colony Inn in Kennebunkport outdid itself with our lobster lunch. At least 25 vehicles and more than 50 people made the run up to Maine; more to the point, a great number of them have already been featured in NEMPA members’ columns, blogs and radio and TV shows. There are two reports on our NEMPA website, at https://nempa.org/events/2010/2010-nempa-ragtop-ramble-crustacean-crawl-recap/ and at https://nempa.org/blog/2010/one-fast-lobster/. In addition, WheelsTV filmed the event, and you can see a clip at http://tinyurl.com/RagtopTV.

In other news, both Ford and Mazda will be in our region soon, to show us new product. (If you’d like to set up an event here also, please let us know and we’ll put you in touch with AutoMotion. In addition, we will be well represented at IMPA Test Days, at Pocono, and we hope to see you there.

Best regards,

Ezra Dyer – President
Keith Griffin – Vice-President
