Another Ragtop Ramble Goes into the Books

For at least the 15th consecutive year, NEMPA’s Ragtop Ramble and Crustacean Crawl-our annual thank-you to the carmakers and agencies who work with us-took place in late July. The turnout, in cars and people, was as good as it’s ever been. The dinner cruise in Boston Harbor aboard the side-wheeler Lexington was scenic and relaxed, and both the bar and the menu were first-rate. The next day, despite some very high-performance machinery, no one got nicked for driving too slowly, and the weather perfectly suited open-air motoring. And as always our destination, the Colony Hotel, on the water in Kennebunkport, Maine, served us and our guests a wonderful shore lunch of lobster and steamers with all the New England trimmings, from fresh corn on the cob to blueberry pie.

Each year, many people and companies contribute to making this event a success, and 2011 was no exception. Lunch was sponsored by Coyne Public Relations, the Haartz Corporation, Jaguar and Land Rover, Chrysler and Honda. Our thanks also to these companies who supplied the fine transportation for our lobster run in the sun: Audi (S5, R8), Bentley (Continental Supersports), BMW (Z4, 335i, 650i), Cadillac (CTS-V), Chevrolet (Camaro, Corvette Gran Sport), Chrysler (200), Fiat (three 500Cs), Ford (Mustang GT), Hyundai (Genesis 5.0 R-Spec), Infiniti (G37S) Honda (CR-Z, Odyssey), Jaguar (XF, XK), Kia (Optima Turbo), Lexus (CT200h), Lotus (Evora), Mazda (RX-8), Mercedes-Benz (SLK350, CL63), Nissan (two 370Zs, Murano CrossCabriolet, Quest), Porsche (911 Carrera, 911GTS) and Saab (9-3), VW (Eos).

Special thanks always go to Cliff, Mike, Edie, Paul, Junior, Michelle, Aurelia, Bugsy and all the crew at Automotion International, the lubricant that keeps NEMPA’s wheel turning.
